Holiday Beaded Mini Sock (July KAL)

July’s project in the BOBBOL 2013 Series

BOBBOL 2013 is the nickname for Bits of Beads/Bits of Lace, and expands the popular Bits of Lace 2012 Series with additional types of small lace projects and the addition of projects for building skills in beading.

For July, we knitted Bells On My Toes, a festive holiday miniature sock for you to knit with beads and a bell.

Bells On My Toes Holiday Beaded Mini Sock

Simple beading techniques make this mini sock pattern quick to knit, and the results look impressive. I bet you won’t be able to make just one!

You can use this little sock for holiday tree trimming, as a sachet filled with herbal mixtures or potpourri, as a gift box decoration, etc.

In this project, you’ll learn about stringing beads for a  colored pattern sequence. Then the beads will be worked in a sampling of 3 fun beaded knitting techniques.

Even if you have not knit socks before, this small project is also a good introduction to the basics of knitting a sock.

If you missed the knit-along for Holiday Beaded Mini Sock, you can purchase the Bells On My Toes pattern while still taking advantage of the free articles for knitting with beads with bonus bit-size tutorials, tips & techniques.

Oh, you are really being so kind. Hope you’re actually getting time to rest on your summer holiday. Life has been so crazy here also, so it was a welcomed sight to see that you are allowing us to make sure we have July’s project. Can’t wait to see what August’s project will be. Thanks for all that you are doing to help us with our knitting.

Just received the kit for the dolly beaded shawl which I “won” last month. Thank you so very much and thanks for all of the lessons in lace knitting. I don’t have a lot of free time in the summers as we are irrigating, fixing haying stuff and putting up hay most of the summer but will take this project along on hay deliveries as I am a passenger with nothing to do during the drive.
Have started a Christmas sock but keep getting interrupted! Hope I get one done by Christmas.

Thank you too Jackie for all your beautiful patterns, and for sharing them with us. I always love your patterns because my projects turn out just how they are supposed to:)

Will I have any trouble not having knitted with beads previously?

    • jackiees says:

I hope not. 🙂 The idea is that you don’t necessarily have to have had previous experience knitting with beads to do this. I’ll have some tutorials, etc. to help along the way. Get your supplies etc. together as indicated in the kickoff post. I’ll be back with more to help with knitting beads as we proceed through the KAL this month.

Georgia, I made these a couple of years ago. Jackie’s instructions for the beads were easy to follow, and I think it is a great first bead project. Everyone loved this ornament too last chrismas:) They are addictive to knit.
