This is my favorite charity baby blanket pattern! So simple to memorize the pattern and such a beautiful result! Thanks for sharing this pattern. I might just have to start another blanket this weekend!
    Happily knitting,

    Dear Jackie,
Really looking forward to this month’s project, and the book marks, very popular birthday and Christmas gifts!

I was wondering, can I get away with a 1.75 mm needle? Or will that make the fabric too loose? I almost always use the recommended size to get gauge.

    Thanks,
    Joy

    • jackiees says:

It should be fine on the bookmarks (although you might want to starch to give more body to the fabric if it seems a bit too loose with the 1.75 mm needles). Of course, they will work up a bit larger, so allow more thread as necessary.

For the purse, likewise it will work up larger on larger needles and you should also allow more thread as necessary. Since the fabric will be looser on the larger needles, lining is probably advised so as to stabilize the fabric, especially if planning to actually carry a tiny treasure inside it.

I cannot find the code in order to get this pattern free. Can you please help me. I must be looking in the wrong place. Thanks.

    • jackiees says:

Nancy, The March KAL pattern area is here –
      http://www.knitheartstrings.com/member-pattern/narrow-lace-leaves-scarf-kal

Your Limited Content membership level does not include the monthly pattern as part of your plan. But you will see a code to purchase the pattern at 50% off (valid thru March 25 only).

If you upgrade to Basic Paid or Premium level, then you will be shown different info on that page which will allow you to download the pattern without charge.

Does this answer your question? Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

  11. Nancy Rains says:

I can’t seem to find the pattern, I must be doing something wrong. I also have some midnight mohair would this work for this pattern? I really like this scarf it is very pretty and would love to have the pattern. Thanks Nancy

    • jackiees says:

The Lace Leaves Scarf pattern went up just this morning (you might need to refresh your internet browser for the menu item to show up in the Knit-Alongs area). Here is the direct link to the page –
      http://www.knitheartstrings.com/member-pattern/narrow-lace-leaves-scarf-kal

Since mohair yarn comes in all kinds of sizes and weights, I can’t say for sure if it will work for the pattern. This pattern calls for fingering weight yarn. So if you use your mohair, you will want it to be quite fine. If your yarn is heavier than that, you could use larger needles (which will produce a larger scarf and you will need more yarn than called for in the pattern). Is there a suggested needle size on a yarn band for your yarn? For lace, I usually go up 3 or 4 needle sizes from that.

The Lace Leaves Scarf pattern is worked on just 30/31 stitches, so you could at least give it a start with your mohair and see if you like what you are getting.

Does this answer your question? Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

  12. Jean says:

Where do I put the beads in the Spring Lace Leaf Scarf?

    • jackiees says:

The Spring Leaves Lace Scarf pattern does not call for adding beads, but feel free to use your creativity and do so if you want to using any of the methods we’ve gone over in previous KAL’s.

For example, I have a Lace Leaves scarf I am currently knitting in some of my own handspun yarn, and placing size 6/0 seed beads to outline the center leaf shape. You can get an idea here from my in-progress (unblocked) pictures on my Ravelry project page –

  13. Terri says:

I cannot wait to start this scarf. It is so pretty. I love the color choice to. Reminds me of my Irish heritage. Black watch plaid colors. Beautiful!!!

    • jackiees says:

This color really resonates with me, too. Perhaps because of a Celtic heritage. Anyway, you’ve encouraged me to offer some of this same yarn and color for purchase thru the KnitHeartStrings store for you or others that might want to knit this scarf in the Black Watch colorway pictured.

I still encourage everyone to stash dive or give yourself an excuse to visit your local yarn shop for the yarn to make Narrow Lace Leaves Scarf. But if you’d like to purchase here at KnitHeartStrings, I am happy to help and can get this yarn out to you as soon as possible. Be aware that supplies are limited, so please order early.

      • Terri says:

Thank you so much to put this yarn out there to buy. I do have something from my stash but I am so in love with this colorway. It reminds me of a shirt a client gave me back decades ago for a Christmas present. She passed away and her daughter brought a package up to me and it was her pearls. I still have her pearls but the shirt no longer. I put on some weight and it didn’t fit. But mind you I was VERY small back then. 3 children later, oh , well, you all know what I mean. I will be buying this yarn. Thanks again Jackiees!!!
