Pretty Awesome Yarn Pouch (March)

March’s project in the BOBBOL 2013 Series

BOBBOL stands for Bits of Beads/Bits of Lace, and expands the popular Bits of Lace 2012 Series with additional types of small lace projects and the addition of projects for building skills in beading.

With Pretty Awesome Yarn Pouch, you’ll get to bring together lace and beads to make an awesome drawstring bag for center-pull yarn balls or cakes. This project also introduces the crochet hook method of bead placement.

Pretty Awesome Yarn Pouch will give your yarn balls a pretty dress-up while protecting the yarn itself. The drawstring loops can also be placed over your arm for on-the-go knitting. Even your fussiest balls will love being tamed by this protective pouch.

To use, just put your ball/cake in the pouch so that the center-pull yarn tail comes out the top, then pull the drawstrings closed. The peek-through spiraling lace mesh is super stretchy and will accommodate amazingly large balls/cakes. As the enclosed yarn is used up, the bag collapses to help keep the ball tidy and tangle-free.

If you missed the knit-along for Pretty Awesome Yarn Pouch, you can purchase the pattern now and still take advantage of the free support articles for making this project.

Thank you for providing the beautiful free pattern for the Totally Awesome Yarn Pouch. I was late in joining the KAL for this pattern, and wondered if the tutorials will be made available to use through April, as I would love to work this pattern?

    • jackiees says:

The tutorials will still be available for a while. But we will be moving on to the April KAL project in just a couple of days. So my time will be devoted to questions and support relating to that.

I see you joined on March 13, so you really were not all that late, lol. We basically got going with the first post re. tutorials/tips/techniques related to the Pretty Awesome Yarn Pouch going up on March 9th.

Thanks Jackie. I was given a silky bag, very pretty, but seems to need ‘help’ in sturdiness. This little pouch is just the help it needs!!
    Wonderful.

Placing a pretty scarf in the bag as a lining would allow the user to change the look instantly.
Great travel or “in between” project.

Can’t wait to get started on this. Great Christmas presents for knitting friends. So great for take along projects.

  30. Susan aka sjanova says:

I can also see this as a very dressy handbag, depending on the yarn and beads. Might need a lining for that, of course, so the fabric for the lining would affect how dressy it looks. This looks really pretty — thanks for another terrific pattern.

  31. Linda B says:

Beautiful! I can’t wait to get started.

  32. mary swen says:

Thank you. I got it to download without any problems today.

  33. Susan Havens says:

I am logged in as a member but the March project, Pretty Awesome Yarn Pouch is showing up as costing and not as a download.

    • jackiees says:

When you are logged in, the Price will still show as that is the value of the pattern. The difference is that there is a “Download” button under the price rather than “Buy Now”. When you click the Download button, it does not go through the shopping cart and you will not be charged. (If by chance you make a mistake and had not logged in, you’d have a chance to back out before paying anything, so don’t worry that you will make a mistake).
