Believe it or not, this little oak leaf is a bit of lace edging. The design features an interesting lace edging construction built around an I-cord stem.

Knit a miniature version of the red, white and blue U.S. flag. The lacy stripes and beaded stars symbolize the flag proudly waving in the breeze. Finished size approximately 3" by 5". Complete kit includes A91 Mini Lace and Beaded Flag pattern, 3 balls of size 8 DMC pearl cotton, size 11/0 Miyuki Japanese glass seed beads, and collapsing eye twisted wire needle for easy stringing of the beads. Enough to make several mini flags.

NEEDLES OPTION: You also have the option to purchase coordinating knitting needles size US 4/0 (1.25 mm) with lapis gemstone heart finials.

Note: I have run out of colors as made for the original sample. Your kit will include threads in ecru, imperceptibly different shade of red, and your choice of wedgewood #311 or navy blue #823 (wedgewood is slightly lighter). Beads are pearl ceylon to coordinate with the ecru thread. You can't go wrong with either choice depending on whether you prefer an Early Americana or Country Americana look.

This delicate lace scarf is designed with a knitted lace pattern stitch where the silhouette of yarn over eyelets is reminiscent of maple leaves. The attractive textured lace border is knit at the same time as the center area of maple leaves. Thus, the knitting is done entirely from end-to-end in one piece with no picked up stitches or seams to sew.
