This preemie hat is simply knit flat back and forth on 2 needles. What is clever is in the finishing, where the seam is sewn to mimic the herringbone lace stitch, and thus appears to be "seamless". The pattern reveals the secret that makes this work. Your knitting friends won't believe that you didn't knit this hat circularly!

Knit a miniature version of the red, white and blue U.S. flag. The lacy stripes and beaded stars symbolize the flag proudly waving in the breeze. Finished size approximately 3" by 5". Complete kit includes A91 Mini Lace and Beaded Flag pattern, 3 balls of size 8 DMC pearl cotton, size 11/0 Miyuki Japanese glass seed beads, and collapsing eye twisted wire needle for easy stringing of the beads. Enough to make several mini flags.

NEEDLES OPTION: You also have the option to purchase coordinating knitting needles size US 4/0 (1.25 mm) with lapis gemstone heart finials.

Note: I have run out of colors as made for the original sample. Your kit will include threads in ecru, imperceptibly different shade of red, and your choice of wedgewood #311 or navy blue #823 (wedgewood is slightly lighter). Beads are pearl ceylon to coordinate with the ecru thread. You can't go wrong with either choice depending on whether you prefer an Early Americana or Country Americana look.

Here's a trio of lace leaf designs to delight anyone and everyone. I chose autumn colors in remembrance of the piles of leaves I loved to jump into. Maybe you and I don't jump into piles of leaves now, but undoubtedly you'll enjoy making a whole pile of these knitted leaves to play in! Celebrating St. Patrick's day and Springtime - shamrocks and the promise of faith. Legend has it that St. Patrick used the shamrock to communicate the doctrine of the Trinity. The three leaves combine to make a single plant, just as the Father, Son and Holy Ghost combine to make the holy Trinity.

High quality Japanese glass seed beads (a.k.a. round rocailles) by Miyuki in size 11/0 (2 mm diameter). Use this size bead for stringing on lace weight yarns and fine threads like size 8 perle cotton, size 10 crochet thread, and size 5/2 tencel thread or finer.

Beads are packaged in clear zip-top bags for easy handling; no tubes to roll around or tops popping off and spilling beads. Approximately 1550 - 1650 per 15g bag unless otherwise noted (mixes come in smaller 12g bags).
